Hello Saturday!

This Christmas I decided to take advantage of the Nikon sale and upgrade my camera body.  I bought a D7100, which means I have a new camera to figure out.  So far so good.

What I have discovered so far is that it takes pretty good night shots, but even with a tripod there are no guarantees of the quality.  I swear I have two shots that I took last night that aren’t crisp even in the least bit.  You could see shake even though it was mounted.  Maybe the wind was blowing harder than I thought.  I took this photo after moving the tripod so that it was protected from the breeze.  It turned out much better.

It was so peaceful out last night that I didn’t want to come in.

Classes start tomorrow 😢 I already peeked to see what my assignments look like.  Not bad… not good.  Both classes require discussions every week.  However, my project management course has the interactive node instead of a weekly paper, which I am happy about.  SQL on the other hand… I don’t know what the weekly assignments are just yet, but seeing as it is SQL I am not really expecting it to be research papers.  I may take a harder look at it today and see just what those weekly assignments consist of.

For now… today is the Saturday before a new school term.  My plans are to take a nap, wash a load of laundry, and go to the club house to pick up packages before it closes at 2pm (in no particular order).  I hope you are doing something today that makes you happy…

got plans?  Want to share?  Tell me below what you planned to do or have done with your first Saturday of the new year.

  1. I’m trying to take down the Christmas decorations, but my knee says otherwise. We are trying to get as much as possible done today because we, meaning mostly me, will be babysitting Grace all day tomorrow! You will do great this semester! I’m looking forward to all the new pictures you will be taking!

  2. Congrats on the new camera body! The night photo you took turned out really good. I haven’t tried any night photography since all my shots of the Super Moon eclipse turned out blurry. 😦 I got a new lens for Christmas so I’m hoping to get out somewhere to play with it. Enjoy your weekend of freedom and your new camera!

    1. Yeah the secret to a good night shot is a tripod. I learned that a long time ago. I haven’t bought a new lens in a couple of years, but I so love the ones I have why would I get a new one. I wouldn’t mind some new filters though. I want a circular polarizing filter and maybe a warming one. I could have used that warming filter a couple of days ago it just looked so depressingly dreary when I went out.
