Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

The holiday season: can’t get enough of it, or can’t wait for it all to be over already? Has your attitude toward the end-of-year holidays changed over the years?

As a child I wasn’t the biggest fan of Christmas, but I always loved the tree.  Something about the lights and the ornaments that made me happy.  As an adult I am equally turned off by Christmas.  I still love a lit tree covered in ornaments.  Christmas is a whole other story.  We lived in the country, so it was no fake tree, there was always a big fat beautiful freshly cut tree.  I loved the smell of the fresh evergreen trees.

DSC_0001Now our tree is fake and pre-lit, but every couple of years we shake it up and bring in a (relatively) fresh tree.  I still love that smell.  It’s 8:30 in the morning and my tree is lit.  It makes me happy.  Anyway…

I am not a fan of Christmas.  However, I have a kid and because of this I celebrate it every year.  I look forward to the look on his face on Christmas morning.  We never did the whole santa thing, he was never under some delusion that some fat man was squeezing down our chimney and leaving behind presents.  He knew that the only “fat guy” buying gifts in that house was me.

So can’t get enough of it or can’t wait for it all to be over already?  Definitely can’t wait for it all to be over.  I always miss the tree though.
