Nope, Not me, Never That!

What are the top items on your anti-bucket list — those things you never, ever want to do, places you never want to visit, books you never want to read, etc.?

While I know that I am supposed to be relaxing with the family today and not blogging, I simply could not pass up today’s writing prompt.  At any rate, my son is upstairs playing video games and my husband is asleep on the couch so no one will miss my presence anyway.

We are going to start this list with books.  Of all the books ever written, there are a few that I have no need to ever read.  The book series at the top of my list of books I never want to read are the Twilight books.  When I first moved to Colorado, I belonged to an online group.  All of the women in that group were reading Twilight and were absolutely obsessed it seemed with this book.  It was a huge turn off quite frankly.  Not to mention it was about vampires of all things and that had no interest for me.  That said, I did eventually watch the movies on a boring Sunday afternoon but I still wouldn’t lift a finger to pick up these books.

Another book that I wouldn’t waste my energy on is 50 Shades of Grey.  My sister LOVED this book.  You would have thought she wrote it herself she talked about it so much.  A few other women I know read it as well.  Only one came back with, it’s not worth it.  This is a woman much like myself, and since this book fell into a genre that I am not normally interested in, I passed.  I won’t be wasting my brain cells on this book either.

For those that don’t know, I am a Murder Mystery/Thriller kinda girl.  You can keep the romance for yourself… actually my husband reads romance (weird right?  I thought so), maybe he will be interested.

MountEverestNext up, places I never want to visit.  This is so easy.

Mount Everest.  I have no desire to climb, drive by, nor sit at the foot of Mount Everest.  Coincidentally enough this is also on my never EVER want to do list.

Anyplace that is super heated and super humid… rain forests come to mind.  I can barely breathe the humid air of the East coast mid-summer.   So I have no desire to go to a rain forest and suffocate.  I listen to people talking about trips to the Bahamas, Jamaica, etc.  I have no desire to sit on any island.  A dream vacation for me would be an Alaskan cruise, not baking on a beach in the Caribbean.  Anyone that knows me knows I am not a huge fan of extreme heat.  Anything over 90° is extreme to me, especially since I’m happiest when the temps are around 75°.

I have no interest and never EVER want to surf, scuba, rock climb, skydive…. lets just say I have no interest in anything that makes the adrenaline rush lol.  I’ll photograph mountains, I am not scaling one.  Unless the plane is crashing or on fire I will not be jumping out of one.  My husband jumped out of perfectly good planes (I guess Air Force Aircraft qualify as perfectly good) for 18 years, give or take… I never understood the draw.  It made him happy which mostly made me happy.

So what is seated firmly at the top of your anti-bucket list?

  1. I love this post! I agree with you wholeheartedly on the anti-bucklist items, the types of books I read (I hate romance) and the sweltering heat! What authors do you like? I like Harlan Coben, Greg Iles, Lee Child just to name a few…

    1. I like Catherine Coulter, Lisa Gardner, and Sue Grafton. Mostly because I like serial books that carry a character from book to book. I also like Kevin O’Brien, as far as writers go, he’s got a dark mind. Makes for a great Thriller!

  2. I also have no desire to skydive, bungee jump, or anything like them. I would like to zip line though. Eating weird foods is out too. I’m a mostly traditional kind of gal when it comes to food. I never read the Twilight books but I did enjoy the movies, same with Harry Potter.

    1. I read some the Harry Potter books with Andre when he was in the 2nd & 3rd grade. By the middle of the 3rd grade he was reading them on his own. I don’t know about zip lining. I think I like the ground firmly beneath my feet. I don’t like heights and I have a very real fear of falling. I don’t think I’d do well on a zip line. Oh yeah I didn’t even think about weird foods. I should update this blog huh? lol
